I landed on bugland when trying to do one of my not-so-much-interesting tasks. First I was puzzled as to why I'm dragged into this place because no one came here before by taking the path I took. This path was not so tough for others who traveled via this before. Even if there is a mine on a rarely stepped corner of a pathway, I use to step on it. Same way, I stepped on a mine in my current task (can't tell it in public, as it is related to Amazon). This mine is so powerful that it threw me to a dangerous place, the bugland, which is dark. Being dark is the biggest problem in software development because we cant find how or by which way we came here. Imagine such a situation. Its horrible. So I was there in a mysterious way.
I called upon a rescue expert Mr. Shri who usually saves me from every blast. This time Shri was too busy that he couldn't see me struggling in bugland for almost a week. I lost hope and started to enjoy the dark because darkness has its perks, you are totally free of deadlines as your manager sees that you are in dark and leaves you out of mercy.
Then Mr. Machine Learner and my mentor came for the rescue. Bugland is too dark that even their flash-lights and heat-visions didn't work. But they fought decently. They again advised me to consult or call Mr. Shri.
Mr. Shri's arrival:
My manager was so worried for me and ordered Shri to rescue me out of bugland. Then Shri pitched in. He has this ebility to move people temporarily out of bugland and place them on a common highland, from where we can see both codeland and bugland. Then we were in highland. First he told me to clear the setup I made and expect a different bugland, which has light installed. I did it. Then I gradually made the setup and checked every step. Looked like no issue. Then we zoomed into codeland where Shri found the mine. He told me to so a setup so that we can avoid stepping on the mine. I did that. Then he landed me to the start of my setup path. I walked safe and reached the right destination. Thank God !
Where is the battle?
Battle is not about destroying bugland but avoiding it because it is not wise to destroy bugland which has undestroyable property set by some ancient software developer. Legend says 'there is no codeland without bugland'.
Awesome advice after battle:
#1 Go till the last step of your code in the most granular level and check everything. That naturally fixes a lot.
#2 With anyone, end your conversation with a positive point or in a positive way. Your interactions can spike to negative max on course, but finishing should be positive because people (general crowd not close friends) always remember last moments when they think about you.
You might ask - But still the mine is not removed??
Yeah good question. We will remove it, after all its what software engineers do in most part of their lifetime.
Anyways, God save the king :)
